Is ZTE N919D better than the Micromax Canvas Duet AE90

The leading Chinese network equipment and communication device manufacturers, ZTE has launched its all new ZTE N919D with a strategic and affordable price tag of Rs.6, 999 in India. The USP of this smartphone can be easily recognized at it GSM+CDMA network support with dual-standby capability.The ZTE N919D has been launched for those CDMA subscribers, who want to have Android smartphone experience without switching from CDMA to GSM network.

In fact, the ZTE N919D is also a very good option for buyers in the budget friendly segment of below Rs.10, 000. However, ZTE is not the only smartphone brand offering GSM+CDMA smartphone in this segment.
Micromax, the leading Indian smartphone brand has its Canvas Blaze and Canvas Duet in the same segment. The Micromax Canvas Blaze is available for Rs.6,999 and the Canvas Duet AE90 is available for somewhat around Rs.9000 in India.


The Micromax Canvas Duet is Rs.2,000 costlier than the ZTE N919D. But what brings-in the difference of these 2000 bucks? ZTE N919D vs. Micromax Canvas Duet AE90

Display
The ZTE N919D sports a 5-inch FWVGA TFT capacitive touchscreen display, producing 480 x 854 pixels resolution at a rate of 196 pixels per inch. On the other side, the Micromax Canvas Duet sports a smaller 4.5-inched but better IPS LCD display, which produces 540 x 960 pixels resolution at 245 pixels per inch.
The ZTE N919D has a bigger display but the viewing angles and colours produced on Micromax Canvas Duet arebetter in comparison.

Processor, RAM & Operating System
For multi-tasking, both ZTE N919D and Micromax Canvas Duet are powered by Quad-Core processors clocked at 1.2GHz. The ZTE N919D has got a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chipset, which is not available on the Canvas Duet. However, both of them have got 1GB of RAM for smooth and buttery response from the device during multi-tasking activities. They could easily perform various tasks simultaneously without any lag.
If you are a serious gamer and you like to play high-graphic games on your smartphone, then these two smartphone devices would not stand up to your expectations. They are made for light gaming only. However, the ZTE N919D with Qualcomm chipset would be slight better in this aspect.
The ZTE N919D and Canvas Duet are running the out-dated and now probably absolute Google Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system. None out of these two are expected to get an OS update in future.
The ZTE N919D with a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chipset is the winner in this segment.


Camera & Memory
The ZTE N919D has an 8 Megapixels autofocus rear camera, which is quite better as compared with that of the 5 Megapixels present on the Micromax Canvas Duet. Both of them sport LED flash and other standard camera features. These smartphones have also got a VGA front-facing camera for video calls and capturing selfies on the move.
The on-board storage capacity on both these smartphones is similar; 4GB. The memory can be expanded up to 32GB with an external MicroSD card.

Connectivity & Battery
The connectivity features on these two smartphone devices is again almost similar with including 3G, EV-DO, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS and more. The Micromax Canvas Duet has a 1800mAH battery generating 150 hours of stand-by and 5.5 hours of talk time. The ZTE N919D has been fuelled by a stronger 2500mAH battery, claiming 350 hours of stand-by and 9.5 hours of talk time.


Final Verdict
This side-by-side comparison review has let us understand that the ZTE N919D is better than the Micromax Canvas Duet AE90 in terms of bigger display, better chipset, better rear camera, stronger battery and comparatively cheaper price tag. The only reason to go for Canvas Duet AE90 is its IPS LCD display. Though, investing Rs.2,000 extra on the Canvas Duet just for the IPS display is not really a worth. The ZTE N919D is offering much more at a lower price tag.
If you have to choose one amongst these two, we would strongly recommend you to go for the all new ZTE N919D.
