What to opt for The Yu Yureka or Xiaomi Redmi Note?

Yureka, the first product of Yu is an important phone aiming at the slot earlier occupied by 3G Xiaomi Redmi Note. It has a lower price tag and the appearance, size and specifications match with those of big screen version of Xiaomi.

Yu does not want to associate with parent company Micromax despite the popularity of brand. Yu Yureka is not very light or slim but is certainly better constructed compared to many other Micromax phones. It has smooth front and there are no markings except outline of button printed   under the screen. Get best offers on this smartphone at SaveMyPocket. Printed icons of Menu and Back buttons are not there but light up on screen being active. Edges are little raised for preventing scratching and not much room is there around screen.
The rear has rough sandpapery finish of OnePlus One’s rear but it is smooth to hold. It has printed light blue logo that does not look too good on the device. Camera and flash have been tucked away in a corner and you can see the small speaker grill across bottom. Headset and Micro-USB sockets are at the bottom and volume and power buttons can be reached easily.  The removable battery, a slot for microSD and two slots for Micro –SIM card are located beneath rear shell.
There is brand new Qualcomm Snaodragon and oct-core SoC with 64-bit support. It has 2GB of RAM and 16GB internal storage space and you can add up to 32GB using microSD card. Screen has 720x1280-pixel resolution. It can be connected to Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Yureka looks good and can customize various aspects of appearance. There are many settings for small things like appearance of indicator of power level in status bar, duration for which backlight should remain on and what should be done by each button. Look of UI is very much customisable. You get access to downloadable themes by creating Cyanogen account. Besides Google apps there is browser known as Yuniverse, audio equaliser and effects app known as AudioFX.
Performance of new CPU of Qualcomm was positive. Yureka matches Xiaomi Redmi Note in lot of situations and daily usage was fine. It is polished and in fact better than many Micromax phones to hold and use. Though screen is not absolutely crisp, it is quite legible in sunlight. Phone’s built-in speaker is loud but of good quality. But the headset is not comfortable and this is not good for the music. Call quality is good and her are no complaints. Its battery could last for 6 hours and 26 minutes in video loop test which is reasonably good as per prevailing standards. Its camera is impressive and quality of images is of high standard. The close-ups are excellent. The images are very sharp at focus point in daylight. Subjects in motion were difficult to capture. But we could create good depth-of-field effects with little effort. Lot depended on quantity of light which sensor could pick up in every shot. On the whole this is certainly worth trying.
